How to help your alignment hold

I get asked this question a lot.  There are some things that you can do to help your alignment hold.

My first suggestion is to watch how you hold your head.  You should avoid holding your head tilted to the opposite side I adjust you on.   I am moving the atlas down on the side that is high.  If you tilt you head so the atlas is high it is undoing the adjustment.  I usually explain this to you after the first adjustment.  Watch how you hold your cell phones.  If you are on your cell phone a lot I would recommend a head set.

Look at the ergonomics at your desk.   If you are on a computer all day a desk top computer is better than a lap top.  I know you will lose the convenience of a lap top but there really is no good way to have a lap top ergonomically correct.  Good chairs are important.   It is very good to stretch every fifty minutes when you are on a computer.  The Healthy Back Store has lots of gadgets to help you get your work environment better.

Foot orthotics also help hold the alignment.  They are fantastic.  I used to provide orthotics but since there are so many place that do it now I stopped providing the service.    I prefer a place that scans your feet because you get a better orthotic.  The Good Feet Store is one of the places that provides this service.

I like yoga as a form of exercises.  My patients seem to really reduce their need for chiropractic treatment when they start yoga.  I also recommend a few sessions with a physical therapist to help design a exercise program for you.

Good nutrition also helps.   You need the proper vitamins and minerals to help strengthen the ligaments and cartilages.  I will be recommending some supplements for patients I feel need extra help.

I have many more thoughts and will keep updating this blog to help inform you.

To good health,

Dr Larson,
My wife goes to a Dr. in Philadelphia. He has helped her tremendously. After reading your article ref holding alignment, I have found he never offered that advice. Are neck braces helpful to hold alignment? Will yoga strengthen one’s neck muscles and ligaments (tendons) to help hold the alignment? If the muscles are extremely weak or injured what recommendation Can you provide to strengthen them?

Hi, I read atlas/c-1 slight dislocation like from the injury I had, is cause of "cervical dystonia", due to those are the nerves affected + wears off with time usually. WHY do MDs + NPs NEVER say "go to a safe activator chiropractor to save your life, restore, heal, fix neck injury's symptoms, by gently nudging bones BACK to where they belong with avtivator + then you can go to speciality spinal cord rehab WITH ACTIVATOR CHIROPRACTOR do in-patient PT or go home health care PT then down the street PT, when done with rehabilitation, with the sports medicine mentality of FIX HEAL + RESUME LIFE, are able to physically live your previous life if the nerve injuries fully heal??? WHY??? I happened to have a friend with an activator "Voted Best Chiro" every year's name, who saved her life from a neck injury who I'd called + he saved my life. PLUS then there's nothing left to do lawsuits for. TIP=My brilliant gasterenterologist invented a nonsurgical chiropractic adjustment type of cure for a displaced hyoid bone with a simple balloon throat dialation PUSHES the hyoid bone back where belongs + then feeling have a lump in throat is gone p-o-o-f, no more food gets stuck. Is awsomest. We had to do it 3 times in a year for the bone to stay in place, just like a chiropractic adjustment + my chiro LOVED the idea as he can't do adjustments from inside my throat. URGENT ANY IDEAS??=Need to find 2 telehealth best orthopedic surgeon + a best neurosurgeon, who loves unusual spinal cord injuries cases to figure out sees that as a fun challange?? Was a got out of bed, fainted Fall's neck spinal cord injuriy symptoms still need to figure out, or are treating + closer to back to normal, is of loss of balance, numb feet, bit numb hands, Call me if want 603-881-9294 :-)
